Rewriting Resentment

Couples Therapy Workshop

Change Your Resentment Narratives

Resentment often takes the shape of a story we tell ourselves in long-term relationships. When hurt isn’t repaired or needs go unmet, the mind begins to fill in meaning, trying to explain what those moments say about our partner or the relationship. Over time, that story can become fixed and familiar. When it starts to rely on words like “always” and “never,” resentment often shifts from a signal of pain to a narrative that quietly limits connection.

This workshop is designed to help couples notice those resentment narratives and begin working with them differently, before they become the only story the relationship tells.

What This Workshop Focuses On

Participants are supported in identifying the resentment stories shaping their interactions and understanding how those stories developed. Rather than minimizing real pain or rushing toward forgiveness, the work emphasizes slowing down, increasing awareness, and creating more flexibility in how meaning is made. The goal is not resolution in a weekend, but a clearer starting point for deeper therapeutic work.

How It Works

The workshop includes two 90-minute sessions separated by a lunch break and is led by a couples therapist. The structure allows for focused, contained exploration while leaving room for reflection and integration between sessions.

This workshop is intentionally designed as the beginning of couples therapy, not a standalone fix. Couples who participate will continue working with the same therapist after the workshop, allowing the insights, language, and momentum developed during the weekend to carry directly into ongoing therapy.

Next Steps

If you and your partner are ready to look more closely at the resentment shaping your relationship, this workshop offers a supported place to begin. Participation serves as the entry point into ongoing couples therapy, creating continuity and depth from the very first session.
